BEEN THERE, DONE THAT
And now our last week and a half.
I can't believe it all went so freaking fast...
Well i pretty much ended my story when we were starting to hit the good ol' route 66.
We started monday morning at the ghetto hotel in chicago. Decided to have breakfast at Pearls place, little restaurant that belonged to the hotel. I had fabulous pancakes, you really gotta love those american pancakes i think im in love, no really!
well all the bags and suitcases in the trunk again and downtown chicago, some avenue.
saw this little sign: "Start historic route 66"
Good times began ;)
We drove pretty much all day and had a little lunch at some diner in odell along the way. You could see all the vintage stuff still standin there from the old years it was so marilyn!!
finally we reached Springfield (capitol of illinois).
drove by this route 66 hotel and decided to spend the night there.
me and my sister finally got to go to mcdonalds hihi it was fun.
next day.
got up on time, had nice pancake breakfast again.
before we were hitting 66 again we kinda wanted to see a bit of springfield :)
so we went into town and actually saw president lincolns old house!
it was weird he really had lived there. good thing our tour guide was so much fun (watch the movie, you should hear us we were dying in there hihihi)
anywayyyyyyyyyyyy
after that drove by cozy dog restaurant where they had invented the first CORN DOG! well we had to try some of course.
kinda nice, just a hotdog on a stick with some dough and deeply fried or something.
we drove all the way from springfield to St. Louis that day!
so that was quite a ride..
because of some church convention in the city allllllllllll the hotels were booked! so we had to ask like 6 or 7 hotels if they had any available rooms.
at last we found one, not that great though but hey,, after a long drive anything will work.
the breakfast was actually the best.. i had a banana! yep.
wednesday.
went into St. Louis. saw big bridges, fountains, the AAAAAAArch, hard rock café (second one hihi), union state center with a beatles shop wowie and of course the MISSISSIPPI!
beautiful and super huge river.
so we also kinda saw a bit of missouri (MO).
we had coffee and stuff at this cute restaurant in an old part of the city and then we headed downtown with the subway. those people are really nice.
we walked in and they were gonna stand up for the four of us and asked: you wanna sit here? soo nice americans!
anywaaaaaaaaaay..
went up in the arch how fabulous was that!
it was a bit high but you really did got a perfectly nice overview from the entire city so it was kinda worth it.
stayed at stupid hotel again...
we had a yummy dinner at the olive garden. i found myself a new addiction... bread sticks! ohmygod you've gotta try it!!
thursday.
we drove back from st. louis to rush in one day!
we had breakfast (NOT at the dumb hotel) at the waffle house!
oooooo those waffles im not even gonna explain how good they were cause you won't be able to picture it (sorry!!)
it was quite a day, all in the car :) well it wasn't that bad.
we actually had some sushi on the way so yay
we arrived at 11 PM so pretty late and stuff and we had to find a hotel but the damn things around rush were also booked because of some stupid dog show in cambridge :\
well we could stay in the country inn <3 in forest lake for 2 nights and the next nights at brenda and tim's house (dionne's host parents) and then the last few nights in north branch americinn.
weeeeeeeeelllll
friday my mom, dad and me went to fauwn-doe-rosa. this was like a big farm with does, a wolf, ducks, goates, sheep, donkeys, horses, bears, racoons, bunnies and lots of other animals! even a little hedgehog awwwwww.
we could really pet the does and deers whatever is correctly spelled. we got to feed them and i took a looot of pictures.
so cute and sweet and petit and huge!
it was quite nice.
that night we went to the movies for a little caribbean pirating with the four of us and tim it was niceeee!
-poooopcorn-
saturday.
my sister had a party from one of her friends. my mom and dad wanted to see some nature and i didnt feel like doing anything so i stayed at the house accompagnied by howie <3
we did some sitting in the sun business until my sis got back and then watched some reba.
then the rest came home and brenda fixed us a pretty dinner itwas yummy!!!!!!! chicken and salad and more good stuff.
sunday.
the first time we actually got to see minneapolis.
we didnt see it good enough but it looked pretty.
we parked the car close to hennepin ave (theater district) and walked downtown. we heard some really loud music and it turned out to be the gay parade it was hilarious.
saw a lot of fluo colored thongs over there hihi
anywayy
then we starbucked at barnes and nobles.
i got a strawberry and cream frapppu sooooooooooooo good!
oh that reminds me,,
THIS FALL, LADIES AND GENTLEMAN, A STARBUCKS WILL BE OPENING BEFORE CUSTOMS!
so back to my little story now.
my dad did the touristic sights and mommy sister and myself saw a little shops it wasnt that nice actually it was on nicollette mall ( a street).
theeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeen
we went to our third HARD ROCK CAFÉ!
oh man i love those.
and i didnt even see one picture or whatever of blondie so i was kinda sad (but i did get to see some hot david bowie stuff <3)
so i was in the shop buying a shirt you know and my dad walks in, he says: give me your camera i found you something cool.
and when he came back i looked trough the photos he made and it turned out that there wás a picture of blondie....
in the MENS bathroom abóve those standuppeeingthings!
hahaha so funny
at our way back we stopped at dairy queen for some bigass good ice cream with oreo chunks yummmmmmmmmmmmmm
monday.
dionne had her goodbye/graduation party for all her friends/family etc.
big cakes, lots of pictures, hugs, talking and people.
it was kinda nice to see that all those people became so close within one year.
after the party we had to hurry to the twin cities for a dinner with ken and angie (ken is tim and brenda's son) and their kids eva (pronounced as dutch eva) and eli. they were both precious!
too cute.
we ate at a really cool place called the old spaghetti factory and it was near the metrodome where the twins (minnesota's baseball team) played that night.
had some good food from an annoying waitress who acted like we were 2 or smtn.
"would you like some more pink lemonade hun?"
come on!!!
well the food was nice though so ..
the damn twins lost their game but we had loads of fun and it was a great night!
i even bought a shirt of the cutest player (Joe Mauer) and he was the best player that night so that kinda made up for their lost.
tuesday.
last day boohooo
went to do some last minute shopping at tanger outlet mall.
it was just across the street from our hotel hihi
bought some presents and stole a little piece of salt water taffee just to taste it hihi
had coffee and bagel there with mommy and daddy
we left my sister at home to clean up her messy room and get her to start packing her suitcases.
well there was still lots to do for my mom when we went over there so.. :P
we packed our shit too and then went to sleep for the last time in the USA
tuesday.
we got up at 7 and went downstairs for our last american breakfast. last day to take advantage of the good bagels, waffles, latte's and stuff like that.
tim and brenda and dionne would meet us at the hotel at 9 or smtn and then we drove on to the airport.
saying goodbye was hard for everyone but especially for my sister and her friend ashley from south korea who was a foreign exchange student as well. it was so sad those crying girls.
anyway after customs we got to go for some caribou coffee treats and waited a little while before going into the plane and fly to chicago.
in chicago we had to wait for 5 hours untill the next flight!
then it started raining and we had a lot of thunderstorms so the plane that had to arrive was delayed :(
well at least we got to have one last starbucks there ooooo.
so when we finished those all of the sudden we had to get into the plane real quickly because more really bad weather was coming up and if we didnt get into the plane now and left straight away, there might be a chance we didnt get to leave at all!
so we rushed in and tried to get comfi (not really easy if youre surrounded by middle aged lions club/ hockey people who were talking out of their asses all the time, aaaaaaaaaaargh!) but then we could move up some spots so that was bettter...
flight went pretty well and i saw music and lyrics with hugh and drew. nice movie!
well and there we were, back in holland.
big welcome at schiphol by dionnes friends and more family at home so that was awfully nice!
i had the best vacation ever i did and saw and experienced so much i would really love to go back.
america rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
