THE OLD ROUTE, GOTTA LOVE IT

Well,
it have been some pretty busy weeks!
i already told you about duluth, up north and it was lovely..
the last part that i wrote about was that we were gonna hit milwaukee
(i just love to say milwaukee over and over again, love that word!)
anyway...........
the weather couldn't be better!
we were so lucky. during our whole trip it was about 28C degrees with full sunshine!
we parked the car somewhere and left our shit in the hotel and headed downtown.
while we were walking on this hugh street we saw a big museum coming up.
it was beautifully designed in and outside so my sister and i bought some tickets and went for it.
there was.... rothko, lichtenstein, warhol, a lot of dutch artists, and a fabulous chair collection where we had a fantastic photoshoot (hihi)..
anyway.. my camera barely couldn't handle all of this
when we were done we went looking for my parents and cruised a little more downtown.
we had the best day!
next stop.... CHICAGO
so the next day we were loading up our trunk and left for chicago!
we had to wait like an hour before we even could make it into the city because of all the traffic jams, omygod!
my dad booked this hotel in kind of a rush so we were very curious about where we were gonna end up for three (!) nights.
we were advised to book a hotel around michigan avenue BUT....
that ave went all the way from uptown through city center to downtown to badtown!
so we ended up in (oh yes) some kind of ghetto!
no im kidding it wasnt that bad but i sure felt pretty alone there.
the woman who owned the hotel saw us and immediatly took us upstairs to a locked and safer room.
my mom and i had a lovely talk with mouse(?), the housekeeper, janitor or whatever he was. he was so nice and funny hihi... you gotta love those chiccies.
anyway he told us this was a bad neighbourhood about 5 years ago but not anymore.
and as we were driving down to the city we could see that we were pretty much on the border of the bad and the better neighbourhood so we were kind of ok and felt better.
the next day my sister and i went shopping on (again) michigan avenue.
we parked the car on some spot with cameras and headed to macy's, american eagle outfitters <3, mango, the disney store <3, hollister and more like that.
at 5:30 we had an appointment to meet our parents and it started pooring!
so we were looking for a place to wait until the rain was over.
we ended up with the four of us in a coffee shop drying/warming up. we had dinner at a german kind of place it was really fun and gooooooood. i had fish! :D
next day.
we had plans at 5 to meet some friends of my moms.
we decided to have breakfast at a famous chicago restaurant where everything was really personal and cozy and stuff.. so we parked the car again and went looking for it on jackson avenue. we were looking around and all of the sudden we saw a big sign and a little crowd underneath it. we were happy we finally made it and it turned out there was like a waiting line in front of the cafe! it was psychotic!
you're not gonna stand in line to have breakfast! come on! get the hell out and make room for the tourists, especially the ones who came all the way from holland.
anyway, we decided not to wait and went to starbucks (again) whichc i didn't like because i already had breakfast there the day before so...
then we went looking for the hard rock cafe which was quite in the same neighbourhood. i so love hard rock cafes, that atmosphere is just sooooooooo rock!
had some big fatass non alcoholic (yes im still good) cocktail kinda thing.
it was delicious plus we got to keep the glass!
we also went to the musuem of natural history. my sister and i originally wanted to go to the aquarium but there was a line from chicago to milwaukee or something so we decided to follow mom and daddy to the other one..
saw some dino's and some tipitenten and you know, historic things..
at 4:30 we started heading towards the navy pier where we would meet them.
they took us to this barbeque restaurant whichc was really fun.
we had the coolest waiter but he wasn't really clever. he wanted to rehearse his show for next weekend and tried a little thingie for us so that was pretty cool.
then we walked by the ferris wheel and the other attractions on navy pier and of course we took a lot of photos of us and the skyline and everything.
it was a wonderful day.
at the end of the pier we said goodbye and walked to millenium park.
you got a lot of arty things there so that was beautiful.
there was a huge bean as a mirror or something. sooooo cool!
pictures later.
then last night in our big black ghetto hotel (kddng)
next day.
we had breakfast at Pearl's place (the owner of the hotel)
it was soo great!
i had the best pancakes ever, mmmmmmmmmmm! gotta love those pancakes over here!
then we started our trip onto...
ROUTE 66!
i'll write you more about the old highway from east to west and vice versa, later on.
put some more pics on as well!
bye for now, xxx
